Piper Aircraft an aviation manufacturer out of Vero Beach Florida has announced the opening of applications for their 2022 Piper Apprenticeship Program. The program serves as a two-year registered apprenticeship program that operates in partnership with local school Indian River State College (IRSC) where students will receive both classroom instruction and on-the-job training to better prepare their students for a career in the aviation manufacturing industry. On top of gaining valuable hands-on experience with aircrafts, participants will also have the opportunity to learn about the management and organizational facets of Piper’s business through classes that can also serve as college credit towards an associate’s degree.

“Piper’s continued growth in aircraft sales and order backlog has resulted in demand for well-trained, high-potential employees. This program will provide the necessary training, mentoring, and support enabling apprentices to successfully pursue a long-term career with growth opportunity as a Piper employee.

Simon Caldecott, President, and CEO at Piper Aircraft

The driving force in the creation of this program was the increasingly high demand for manufacturing candidates within the industry. Pipers program is designed to help its participants build a career within the industry and upon graduation from their program, they will take qualification exams that will help position participants to eventually rise up the ranks and take on management roles throughout the company. Potential Applicants will be required to submit a 350-500 word essay on why they believe they should be a part of the program as well as why it will benefit them personally.
