San Antonio-based tech career company New Apprenticeship and Effective Spend an Austin-based digital marketing agency have joined together to bring more tech-based careers to the region specifically in marginalized communities. This registered apprenticeship hopes that its efforts will help to address some of the current labor shortages experienced in the tech industry as well as continue to fill skill gaps and create a capable talent pool throughout the area. A recent study conducted by WILEY a global research and education organization, found almost 70% of workplaces in the U.S. acknowledge lacking diversity in their businesses. New Apprenticeship and Effective Spend have seen these disparities and know the need for diversity in tech is greater than ever and hopes this program will be part of the answer.

"As Effective Spend continues to grow, we are committed to celebrating diversity and honoring the unique backgrounds, ideas, and voices represented here. We are excited to partner with NEW to help uncover and magnify opportunities for underrepresented talent. Effective Spend believes that workplace diversity efforts start well before someone joins the company, and we feel confident that our partnership with NEW will help us achieve our goals"

Natalia Wulfe, CMO at Effective Spend

This partnership comes on the heels of significant growth from both companies as New Apprenticeship had recently closed an estimated $2.5 million in seed funding while Effective Spend had just acquired around 20,000 square foot office space to meet their growing team’s needs. Effective Spend plans to continue to take advantage of the apprenticeship model by training participants for their digital marketing futures. Individuals who complete the program may then be selected for full-time positions as either a Digital Marketing Specialist or Digital Content Specialist where they will then receive more intensive training on marketing skills like PPC and SEO while also helping clients to increase conversions and build web traffic. Participants will work with a mentor or industry professional to learn industry best practices and gain the technology tools and analytical skills required for a future in digital marketing.
