CyberUp a nonprofit organization from St. Louis Missouri has joined forces with Colorado-based college Arapahoe Community College with hopes of building interest in cybersecurity careers throughout the region. With this new effort, the two organizations will work together to mold the curriculum for the apprenticeship program while also working with Denver area employers to make sure apprentices have the required skills for potential employment following graduation from their program. This program comes as a result of the Colorado Community College System’s CO-TECH apprenticeship program whose funding comes directly from grants provided by the U.S. Department of Labor.

“This is a great way for us to jump into a market, start having those conversations and build trust within that community, getting some brand notoriety and recognition, The long-term goal is that would evolve to where we drop a physical space and put in an office, multiple team members there advocating for our adult program and youth program.”

Tony Bryan, Executive Director at CyberUp

CyberUp originally began operations in 2017 with a focus on making sure the St. Louis area would meet the growing demands for skilled workers especially in tech fields like cybersecurity. CyberUps apprenticeship programs are curated towards helping potential workers jumpstart a career within the cybersecurity industry. The Partnership between CyberUp and Arapahoe Community College will mark the beginning of a great opportunity for the Denver area as the two organizations hope this effort will continue through 2023. CyberUp also remains committed to education within the cyber industries as they have also sponsored programs like their PowerUp Cyber Games, a virtual competition that invites middle and high school student participation with hopes of sparking interest in potential participants early on.
